The cookies and browser storage our website and app use, and why.
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used by The Very Good Letter Company (Chase Labs Ltd) on our website (verygoodletter.co) and our app (app.verygoodletter.co). It's part of our Privacy Policy.
The short version
We use only the cookies and browser storage that the Services need to work (signing you in, taking payment, keeping things secure), and a few that remember choices you make, set only when you make them. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so we don't need to ask for your consent, and there's no cookie banner. Our website counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. If any of that ever changes, we'll ask first.
What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is similar, but stays in your browser and isn't sent to us. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, we may use those that are strictly necessary for a service you ask for, or that you set yourself, without asking for consent; anything else needs your consent first.

The app also loads typefaces from Google Fonts. This doesn't set cookies, but your browser sends Google your IP address to fetch them.

Our website doesn't set any cookies or browser storage of its own. Its typefaces are hosted by us.
It counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Vercel tells one visit from another with a code made from the request itself, and discards it after 24 hours, so it can't follow you from one day to the next or across other websites. Our Privacy Policy says what it records.
Controlling them
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the necessary ones, you won't be able to sign in or pay. Clearing your browser's storage for our sites also clears your preferences, and, if you're using the app without an account, your drafts.
Changes
We'll update this policy when we add or change a cookie. The version and date at the top tell you which you're reading.
